balls profile: Angelo Mathews

No player has changed his name mid tournament with more aplomb than Mathews.  Mathews could be one of the greatest all rounder’s of his generation or a medium paced hack who slaps the ball around a bit that people forget before they finish their bottle of wipe out. There has always been a rumour that he doesn’t exist.

  1. I’ve always hated Mathews. India was denied a chance at WT20 semis because of him and there have been a few more occasions where this cunt has surprised me.

Still, he is, as of today, one of the best all-rounders in the world.

He will be remembered for his catch more than what he did with the ball or bat :-)

I was expecting a “No record of this player exists”, but this works too.

I think he is better batsman than bowler who uses slow bouncer at will and still effective :D

  5. knowledge_eater says:

I hope he doesn’t play for KKR and he doesn’t perform against india in world cup hehehe being greedy already :P

Plus he has a 99 to his name before a 100. Awesomeness!

One of the theories surrounding the mystery in an enigma wrapped in a riddle that is Angelo Matthews is that “Angelo Matthews” is only a monicker for various, as-yet-unidentified players to perform different roles and thereby allow Sri Lanka to play more than the permitted 11 ala Alan Smithee for Hollywood. Another school of thought holds that “Angelo Matthews” is just a post occupied by various descendants of the same entity who may or may not be called “Angelo Matthews” but all of whom perform somewhat capably with a ball and bat ala a much less talented Phantom. While either of these theories have their adherents, few are willing to accept that an individual by the name of Angelo Matthews in fact exists and plays cricket for Sri Lanka.
