balls profile: Brad Haddin

Looks more like the clichéd Australian wicket keeper than was ever thought possible. Hits the ball a long way and can, on occasion, stop a ball. . Has a rare hand condition that means he cannot feel the stumps when heis hands knocks up against them.  Once played cricket with Merv Hughes for a team called the comets. Has openly talked about the size of Phil Jaques nuts.

  1. Alok says:

When Cricket Australia (then known as “the other half of the Evil Empire”) commissioned the construction of a wicketkeeper for the national team, the suppliers, like every contractor, built two fairly identical models to save on costs, and charged Cricket Australia for both. With great creativity, the models were known as “Healy” and “Haddin”.

Following the success of the Healy model, the Haddin model was sought to be activated as soon as the former was retired. However, the move was complicated by a freak of nature, aka Adam Gilchrist. Haddin was therefore mothballed in the dark dungeons of the Sheffield Shield, until a sentimental board decided to give it one more chance.

    It sucked.

  2. Its hard to believe Australia never found a WKB better that Brad Haddin.

Rahul, even if the best wickie in the world turned up in Aus he wouldn’t get the job. Badhands has squatters rights and we are stuck with him.

He’s got the personality of Healy but without the plus of having Heal’s skill..

I think he is good in ODI, because he is kind of cricketers who takes time to get settle, but his expression in match is interesting. He always looks puzzled or innocent for some reason. And I don’t think he can sledge at all. :P Only time I liked him when he made “Appu” accent or some one else. I don’t remember what match was that though. It was hilarious.

  5. Sad for all the Aussie supporters. The supporters should be awarded to tolerate his services.
