Being Not out in Winning should have more value than being Not out in drawn or lost game.

By including Not out as out in losing / drawn game , it will make players play to win the game.

At present sachin and others just playing for average when the game is going for draw.

Player should play to win and entertain the spectators . Everything should be directed

towards the goal. :D

Hm, Alex do not exist.

That said , everyone bat for current average system are idiots.

My idea is this , sachin & other stat whores wants to be not out in Test when they bat with tail enders , so that their average goes up. Because if they score lots of runs and their not out would be considered out.

Total runs / no of innings -number NO.

So basically it boosts average.

So stat whores are playing for average instead of playing for team

Michael hussey average is extremely abnormal with that NO issue.

Also Opening batsman has less chance to be NO and his average always goes down compare to 3rd down to middle order batsman who can hype up their averages.

It is time to STOP IT.

bring on net average which discounts not out in losing or drawn game as out.

There by it truly high light people who is not out in winning games. People has to play aggressively. If you try to be not out and bat slow and game end up in draw , people will hound them.

It is time for idiots to wake up. :D

Oh why, thank you for the flowers, but I was only referring to the stats phenomenon.
Due to certain circumstances I'm fairly new to the whole cricket business, so yes, maybe my in depth knowledge is comparable to that of a stupid school kid, and I stumbled over the discrepancy only a few days ago when looking up some stats, which I hadn't done before to this extent at least. I'm trying to learn daily but also to figure out things on my own, which is a lot more rewarding, and I promise to get better.
Apart from that I still think Alex deserves to be loved :)
Sometimes.

Elementary, Dr Watson! It's not just avg, there's something called number of innings. Go figure! For no reason people explicitly mention 'number of NOs' while referring to Bevan's ODI records. Even a school kid can tell the difference b/w unrealistic avgs and normal ones, except one!

Wes, you were just kidding right?

Alex and Wes you are both damned fools.

If the bowlers aren't ablt to get a batsman out why should the out count against his average?

Being not out is actually denying the batsman the chance to score more runs, so in many cases it will decrease his average.
