Umar Akmal withdraws from the 3rd test after his mother threatens to take his pocket money away

Kamran Akmal’s axing might make sense to anyone with fair to good eyesight and an understanding of the game of cricket.

But not everyone thinks so.

Kamran’s mother, who recently survived a heart attack, was so angry at her son’s treatment that she has ordered Kamran’s younger brother, Umar, to withdraw from the test team.

Umar was initially reluctant as he thinks test cricket is really cool, but his mother was having none of it, and threatened to tear down Umar’s poster of Aisha Linnea Akthar off the wall.

Kamran’s keeping was brought into question when he dropped Hussey, Hussey, Hussey and Siddle during the second test. Most people forget about the run out, because that is not a real dismissal.

Umar is very fond of his brother, but test cricket is really cool, so it wasn’t until his mother said his pocket money would be stripped that he did tell the team he wouldn’t be playing.

Soon after the Akmal matriarch realised that if she took Umar out of the team that would mean she would have no sons playing test cricket, and as she thinks test cricket is really cool, she decided to let Umar play, for now.

I spoke to her earlier today and she had this to say:

“I’d rather not be a tennis mother, but Umar is only 25 years old, or 19 in Pakistan cricket language, and he needs guidance. However, I followed the Mitchell Johnson Oedipus story closely and realised that by telling Umar to pull out I would be ruining the spirit of the Pakistani team, so I retracted my earlier request.  Test cricket is really cool, and I hope Pakistan kick Ricky Ponting’s hairy arms all around the wicket.”

Kamran’s father refused to comment, as he doesn’t know much about test cricket and is concentrating on his career as a senior model.

For what it is worth Kamran still believes he will play in the final test. He has been watching a lot of films about Proms in America where the story has it that the main awkward dude turns up on the girl’s door only to find out she has always agreed to go to the prom with the more popular, but hardly seen, jock guy.  In those films even though the dude is embarrassed his Prom night usually rocks, and mostly that girl (or a really cooler one) ends up with him.

Fucking hilarious! You da man JRod!

  2. Rishabh says:

    They’ll go to Kamran.

You don’t drop a vastly improved keeper and sort of key batsman because of one match!

But it’s Pakistan – they may try out another young newbie, watch him fail, and go back to Kamran.

    Funny!.

Googling for Aisha Linnea Akthar . Is she Movie Actress or Playboy model?. Ha. :D

  4. Jonathan says:

Jrod, what are you talking about? How can dropping Kamran make sense, when the obvious better option is to ask the Aussies to take his child away?

Jrod, I think, I THINK, that jkal may be Jacques Kallis.

  7. Kamran is the new Parthiv. However his batting has become less consistent than the Patel. So drop the dude.

  8. jogesh99 says:

He’s the original fuckin’ Karthik – one semi-spectacular catch for every five straight-forward drops. Hes always been crap – should play as a bat or not at all.

  9. alex says:

Any human is better than midget parthiv patel!. gujjus still angry at srikkanth for ignoring their pride and glory of gujarat the midget son parthiv patel.

Slrecting pathiv patel is lowest low of idiocy.

Karthik is also not doing well either as his wicket wicking went down and batting is also went down. He is better t20 player. But would be great addition to newzealnd team better than everyone except ross taylor. :D

In international level only century counts not 30s and 40s.

  10. Yawn says:

BCCI could make money by lending out Parthiv/Karthik/Ratra to pak. Surely, anyone is a better deal than kamran!

  11. Yawn says:

    coinbox.

  12. horatius says:

Pakistan hasn’t had a decent keeper since Moin Khan retired. And man do they miss him.

  13. They must be proud of their brotherhood or family traits fucking idiots , but i really doubt the story somehow.

You never whats going on inside with Pakistan, Kamran is good at ODI and T20 but not test so should be dropped specially after how he behaved last few days, he is also the rat involved in previous problems with Younis and Malik. Basterd

Reddevil, If I was 19-23 and from Pakistan I’d have her picture on my wall.

LL, I can’t find many publicity shots as her film hasn’t been released in the west yet, but here is her twitter profile, the rest you have to imagine.

  16. Jamie64 says:

    Ah, the pakistan cricket team.

You couldn’t make this stuff up of you tried.

  17. LL says:

Since you moved to the land of a thousand shades of grey, pictures of gorgeous brunettes has dwindled.

Nice to see at least a mention of a beautiful brunette > Aisha ooh la Linnea Akhtar.

C’mon arrange a picture for us!

mahek, I know, but the piece on cricinfo could have been better had the section where Muhammad was a reoccurring, yet never scene character, remained in it.

  22. reddevil7281 says:

    LOL

I am 25-28 and out of Pakistan but very much a Pakistani that is why I was unaware of her and thanks to you I know about her now :p

Is she doing anything else apart from Slackistan and uploading pics on Flikr?

Any nice pictures you can share? :p

  23. Lolz,

She is either fake or just trying to get some attention, I as a Pakistani and living in Lahore the HUB of showbiz I never heard of her before.

She seem a typical pro-western teen. Look how she is famous over here in this post rather than poor Kamran Akmal who tried so hard by dropping million catches in a day and then some media stunts around him, he is so unlucky poor chap :)

  24. reddevil7281 says:

hmmmmmm, the Slackistan team needs to work harder on the Marketing!

I stumbled upon the book “When Freddie Became Jesus” through a twitter update by Iain O’Brien and then onto this blog through Google Alerts with “Pakistan Cricket” as the words I was looking for. Now I find out that jrod is the author of that book! I’d like to read it but don’t want to pay a lot for shipping … so my question is that is this book being sold in the UAE? We have Borders here so maybe you know if the chain is selling it. I’m too lazy to go to a mall these days so maybe I will go if I know for sure or maybe I will call them up or pop in one of these days :p

  25. well, here no body cares much about local films as mostly they are crap. This one seems better though.

I was talking about twitter profile, actors/actresses doesn’t go online often here. I am living in Lahore which is showbiz HUB but I am not in showbiz HUB and also not much interested. And this movie is also Islamabad based.

They haven’t officially announced the movie in local media though may be it is production yet. Just had a look at trailer, interesting.

    Thanks for info ;)
.-= Reverse Swing´s last blog ..Dear Geoffery Boycott jumping on the ball isn’t “So What?” =-.

    • jrod says:

Reverse sweep, I think every country thinks their films are crap except for America, Nigeria and India. I haven’t seen it, but it has finished production.

Reddevil, How about buying it from here with free shipping to the UAE. Ka-ching.

  26. reddevil7281 says:

    thanks! ordering now :)

jrod you have to see a couple of Pakistani films apart from Khuda Ke Liye (For the sake of God) to understand. About a decade ago I watched a big budget movie and it has a war with India in it and 2 helicopters were shot down during the movie, one during the day and one i the night … and they used the same footage for both! Also the intro of the lead heroine was in an aerobic class with 20 other females and it had extended shots of their bottoms … no kidding. That was the last time I saw a Pakistani movie apart from Khuda Ke Liye!

  27. Don’t want to convert this post into Lollywood chit chat, otherwise there are ways to tell you how awesomish crap those movies are, you just have to watch one of them probably Punjabi movie with titles on and I bet you will get lot of stuff to write about or reffer to or even use as slang may be :D

Well about Slackistan which claims to represent real Pakistan don’t fall for it, they are just representing a community consisting of 15% or 20% of Pakistan. I can tell by just watching the trailer.
.-= Reverse Swing´s last blog ..Dear Geoffery Boycott jumping on the ball isn’t “So What?” =-.

    • jrod says:

Reverse swing, I don’t think they are trying to represent the whole country, just some spoilt rich kids in Islamabad, sort of Igby goes down in Pakistan.

  28. reddevil7281 says:

I’ll try to watch both but this is not mainstream cinema by any stretch of the imagination. These types are the ones that are actually nice. Lets see!

  29. alex says:

    Trailer :Slackistan

Jrod gets paid for these advertisement in his blog. :D
