“I am not blind, I can still pull” says Ponting

Many cricket fans believe that Ponting’s pulling days are gone, but Ponting will not let go.

“Wait until I get fit again and we’ll see if everyone is still saying the same thing about it then. They are such reactive moments, they are instinctive. I’m not sure how people in the past have gone about putting it away. While I can see, I will pull.

I think I have been caught out twice this summer pulling, I’m not embarrassed, it is something that gives me a lot of pleasure so we’ll see how we go with that. But as I said, if I get my elbow right then I think you’ll see me pulling  a lot more.

I stopped doing it for the first time the other day midway through the Test match, when all the negative stuff was in the papers about the team and about certain individuals and selecting of the team”.

But if the day comes where I think there is someone better than myself, then by all means I will give it some thought, but I still think I’m the best equipped to be pulling in the Test side. Hopefully I can show everybody that over the next few weeks.”

If pulling pleases him, he should continue.

I always knew Ponting was a man for principle and that money or fame weren’t involved in him wanting to pull and hook.

Elbow is like knee for NFL Running Backs. Once tear your knee you will no longer will be half of what you were. (ex. Terrel davis of denver broncos).

Same thing in cricket once elbow is broken…it will never go away. Why sachin become run accumulator and stat whore is because of that.

Ponting will learn to accept it. It is just his instinctive reaction to counter critics.

I want ponting to break all sachin records even if he has to play in wheel chair. It is just that i like people play to win. :D

  3. Mahek says:

Let me preface what I’m going to say by mentioning I have a bet with my dad that Ponting will end his career with more hundreds than Tendulkar, and that I think Ponting is the cricketing version of Dubyaman. Great, that’s out of the way.

I’m not sure Ponting was playing to win when he threw the ball to his part-time bowlers at Nagpur. And isn’t it a bit hypocritical for someone like you, someone who likes people who play to win, to obsess over records?

    Jrod,

I know this is off topic but just anted to let you know I was at the WACA last night & just thought I’d let you know your Bushrangers were crap (except for Hussey & Nannes) & the Warriors
kicked their a#@e! in the KFC T20 big bash.

In other words normal service has resumed & WA is back to flogging the Vics

    Cheers

BTW is there a more boring cricketer the MacDonald?

    Jrod,

I know this is off topic but just anted to let you know I was at the Adelaide oval last thursday night & just thought I’d let you know your Bushrangers were crap (everyone) & the Redbacks kicked their a#@e! in the KFC T20 big bash.

In other words normal service has resumed & SA is back to flogging the Vics

    Cheers

BTW is there a more boring cricketer the MacDonald?

  6. Sunny says:

@mahek – you will win the bet because punter will not get anywhere near tendulkar’s intl tons. but i bet sachin would love to have a world cup and punter has 3.

  7. getamatchfix says:

Jrod this is a aussie dirty double entendre joke right? “pulling”, “right elbow”…”I’m not embarrassed, it is something that gives me a lot of pleasure” …sorry mate but am slow on the uptake.
either way its Pontings business. simple.

  8. Advait says:

JRod is it just my filthy mind, or is this one of the funniest posts I have read on here? Couldnt not stop laughing for a good 10 minutes after reading this!

  9. Well, Ponting pulled and got out. Unlike a Tendulkar who stopped playing the cover drive for a while, he is that type of chap who will hit the pull even more. If it works, kudos to him. If not, how irresponsible of him.

However, I think JRod expects us to substitute the word “pulling” with some other word and read his post again. Which word, I wonder.

    hi,

this is the headline for the related news in an indian website..”Wait till writing me off as a nervous hooker: Ponting” this is the related link.

so wat u guys think abt the guy who wrote this??

  14. Timothy says:

Alex says Ponting should play in a wheelchair to break Sachin’s records – in other words, he wants Ponting to become a stat whore – how ironic.

  15. Now I got it. Had to do some googling though. Nice one JRod.

  16. Lou says:

    I have to say it.

    Punter always was a tosser.

  17. alex says:

My pets are reading my comments. Hurray. :D

I do not mind stat whore if he intends to win at any cost with aggressive batting. Ponting is a fighter , sachin is not , sachin is a docile stat whore!.

Hope sachin break all his legs so he do not play in worldcup and mess up india’s chances.
He screwed up 3 world cup and intend on to screw up 4th one for sure.

    Is it
    I am not blind , I just can’t see?

  18. Mike Ambrose says:

Lol… I dunno which is funnier, Jrod’s blog, or the comments left arguing the toss ;) over who is better, Punter or Sachin. Either way, I’m laughing so much my GF is looking worried!

  19. Mahek says:

Sunny, I bet on Ponting finishing with more test hundreds than Tendulkar. Pay attention, will you?

  20. Jake says:

While we’re discussing the Bushrangers, very much looking forward to them all relocating to Leicester, about time the Foxes had something to shout about.

  21. alex says:

Sachin is going down , Ponting is going up. :D

  22. alex says:

Anything negative about Indian player , it will be in aussie headline news , if it is anything negative on aussies especially ponting , it will headline news india. It is like new India-Pakistan.

Who finsihes the race at the top of runs is the main reason for this rivalry. I hope ponting finish first. he deserve it more than docile stat whore tendulkar.

I do not like anyone overpraise people when they do even deserve to praised half the level.

Main reason being , india is never been number 1 in anything , even population fkin chinese leads. So sachin be the number 1 batsman in Test Runs make this clueless indian media people go crazy.

I think India should adapt the policy of praising winners not by their stats. it is like Dinara Safina being number 1 by being winning useless tournaments.

Sachin never take first strike in ODI and even in TEST he is sitting 4 spot so even first wicket fall , he does not have to face new ball. Clever snitch. :D

He never helped Vinod Kambli , his supposed to be friend. Hope sachin breaks his hands , fingers , legs , that way we do not have to hear about sachin the rat. :D

  23. jrod says:

Jake, Victoria has already moved to Notts, check their signings for next year.

  24. The Pav says:

Yeah Jrod he did but isn’t really a Dutchman or something rather than a Mexican.

BTW you’ll have to stay sober. Tried to sling you a drink rather than use the money to buy food for the kids but it was all too hard plus the bank fees would be horrendous. Sorry mate

Anyway I need to save my pennies to go to Singapore to support the Australian Floorball Team in the 2010 APAC.

    I can’t always watch cricket.

Did you know there’s a Bali six aside comp at Easter. Maybe you should organise a CWB team!!!

    Cheers

    Pav

  25. Appreciating Critic says:

Enough of pulling business. About time Ponting “came”.

  26. Timothy says:

Oh! So Alex is OK with an aggressive stat whore.

  27. Timothy says:

@Alex – I know you’re a troll, but maybe you can see http://bit.ly/6OaZcH – According to you Steve Waugh, Kallis, Dravid are all docile stat whores who ought to have their bones broken, throats slit and be left to rot in dumpsters.

  28. Jake says:

Goddammit jrod they steal all our players…

  29. Sunny says:

@Mahek – i know what you meant…but you didn’t write test hundreds in your first comment!

@Jrod – no word on how the bushrangers got bushwhacked by SA?!

  30. crrrr says:

good thing he was not caught hooking

  31. horatius says:

Hilarious UncleJ. When’s your next book about God coming out? I’ll pre-pay for the book.

And people. Don’t feed the troll. You’ll only get mud on yourself.

  32. alex says:

Some of my pets are waking up. :D

I do not care about other country players. Only Indian players.

Sachin is a useless horrible stat whore. He should quit and save all from his overhyped stats.

We need real heroes. Real Gods. How about Shehwag the new GOD.

Actually no one is GOD. God is just a way to stop thinking further. May be GOD is good concept for people like to commit suicide. :D

Anyway shit can be GOD if it makes you happy in Indian mumbo jumbo crap. Monkey religion!. :D

  33. jogesh99 says:

if he does go blind, theres always Clarke to lend a helping hand.

  34. Yawn says:

I am loving it that one who never missed an opportunity at exploiting other players’ skill in handling sweet chin music is getting it right back! Well done Roach! Interesting to see how Ponting responds to the latest exploits.

    coinbox.

  35. AJ says:

Eagerly awaiting the influx of “Ponting fights the urge to pull” headlines.

  36. Vim says:

He pulled and pulled and it finally came off.

And Aamer made a meal of it.
