the times and a sofa

Yesterday I was interviewed for the Times feature on the Oval test.

You can see it here.

I think I did ok, although there is no swearing. I can only hope Katich and Hussey are happy to be quoted alongside someone who has been so nice to them over the years.

On the same yesterday I made my debut on test match sofa.

I think I did ok, they have a highlights package you can listen to, which includes me being so excited Kallis went out that I had no idea if the ball swung or seamed and just started randomly abusing him.

The majority of my best work was not captured in the highlights as it wasn’t part of a wicket, but at one stage I did say I was naked had my nipples molested by another commentator, and I also called Michael Vaughan a fucken tosser.

Good times.

This test match sofa is a pretty good gig, and I will be back.

  1. Saw the Times feature article. You sounded quite drab, TBH. Perhaps they should’ve put you as Jarrod Kimber, Australian Journalist rather than blogger, because I’d have expected you to put in some more juicy words! :P

Listened to TMS, sounds absolutely hilarious, will be a good source of commentary, considering that, for some reason, the damned BBC TMS have made the commentary not available to SL! :@

  2. Nick says:

‘Outside the ground I saw TV camera crews wanting to speak to Australian fans about the result. We crossed the road to get away from them and went to the pub’

    You actually avoided a camera?

    • jrod says:

Nick, twice during the Ashes I tried to avoid the cameras, vox pops are like surprise prostrate exams. Even if you come out of them alright they are shit.

Cricket tragic, dude it is the times, they **** my use of the word bastard last time, what do you expect, “KIMBER: These fucken corporate wankers were behind me completely ignoring the most testicle shrinking partnership by bell and collingwood”.

  3. JRod, what I’d do to see those in a newspaper! HAHAAA!!!
