A reading

Today is the day my book is out, printed and available.

To mark this occasion I have recorded a reading of the first chapter in podcast form.

You can’t ask for more than that, well you can, but I’d ignore it.

Congratulations and all the best. Is Amazon the only way to get it in Canada?

  2. Kit Kat says:

Clearly it’s quite an auspicious day with Sehwag on his way to 200.

Nice to put a voice to the words – strangely, I’d never done this in my mind. Not disappointing at all although the tempo was a little high – a few more pauses for effect, a nicer microphone for that DJ stylee proximity effect and JRod will be advertising M&S next Christmas. “That’s not pudding, that’s fucken M&S pudding. And what cunt forgot to bring the Vegemite?”. Dulcet tones and all that.
You know what? I’m going to buy the book. Not knowing when I’d be at home I’ve been reluctant to pre-order. None of the home delivery setups in this damp, grey land seem to realise that most people who can afford to buy stuff on the internet actually work but now it’s in stock I might be able to tie them down to only a single week that I need to stay at home for the delivery.

With a series so lacking in on-field quality cricket, I trust that the above reading is an indication about how little you discuss the actual cricket in the book?

    • jrod says:

Poopsie, I can’t lie, the cricket does enter into it a tad more than this.

Johnny, Was the first time I’ve ever read out something other than a script, so the pauses got away from me a bit.

CM, should be on the book depository soon which also sends to Canada i believe.

It was nice of damien Fleming to do the reading for you.

On re-reading my comments, it seems ‘not disappointing at all’ is damning with faint praise. Not at all, I was in a funny mood (hence the potty mouth) but I really enjoyed it. Now I can read the book (and the blog) with that loverly lilt in my mind. Not Prue and Tru, not chopper Reed, just jRod.

Sorry, I’ve just watched the latest Underbelly to get my fix of ‘strayun culture, I need to do this regularly – I already get called a ‘bloody pommy’ by my mother-in-law. Go Ritzy!
