Well done Nimbus.
For giving us the gift on some Indian fucktard who is carrying on like a wanker while wearing an Adolf Hitler mask.
Well done Michael Kasprowicz.
For not pointing out that it wasn’t on, and instead talking about the fans having smiles on their faces.
Adolf Hitler masks are not really for the cricket, and if some dickhead does take one in, there was no reason to show the guy wearing it.
Luckily for the BCCi there are no Jewish players in the Ausralian side, but there are Jewish players in first class cricket, the Hebrew Hammer Michael Klinger.
What would have been better was if after the innings the Australian audience were sent back to the Sydney studios for Jon Moss, a Jewish ex shield cricketer who now does commentary for Foxsports.
These two might not have found it so funny to see a fan lapping up the attention of the camera crew while wearing a mask of someone who tried to exterminate their ancestors.
Someone who as largely responsible for about 70 million deaths. 11 million of those he signed the papers for himself.
Perhaps not someone that people want to hear described as having a smile on his face.
Here is the dickhead.
I know that some Indians don’t always see the Holocaust as something that bad, but having your head up your ass isn’t a realistic defence in my mind.
Nimbus, will there be an apology to the jewish members of your audience, or those who just think that someone enjoying themselves in a hitler mask is in the shittest possible taste.
EDIT: I apologise to the BCCI, bccI and the BCCi for saying they were involved in this. I thought they owned the images and hired Nimbus to film them. That was incorrect.

pussy wad – Try not to generalize Indians. we all know how racist aussies are. thats a fact, not generalizing.
I was pretty shocked when I saw that. I couldn’t believe it was really a Hitler mask, I mean seriously who manufactures those, Halloween isn’t even that big in India. Its one thing catching the guy on film, quite another to show it on air. You surely can’t be that ignorant to wear a Hitler mask not knowing what the man represents, and while freedom of expression is something that many can respect no matter how vile and disgusting the message, responsible broadcasters should never be show something like that.
Just yesterday I read about an Australian cookie company changing a biscuit’s name because it was called Creole, and I thought that was being way too sensitive. This deserves any condemnation it receives and I’m glad to see you breaking it.
anirban, even if we were to agree to your crude generalization, do you really think that justifies similar (or in this case, much much worse) behavior? Nimbus owes its audience an apology. I don’t care about what the fool who wore the mask thinks or says. I don’t pay to watch him.
Anirban, great comment, one for not reading the piece correctly, “some Indians”, not all, not a generalisation, but some, like for instance the one wearing a Hitler mask. But the real skill in your comment has to be the fact you have called Australians racist in a post where an Indian has a Hitler mask on. Bravo.
I think this is pretty shocking and insulting to a hell of a lot of people, not just Jews. Sorry to be all serious, but my grandparents were Dutch catholics whose family suffered a great deal during occupation at Hitler’s orders. I think there ought to be an apology. It’s bad enough that someone would behave like this, but to give it such attention is just wrong.
And, anirban, I have now re-read this post several times and there was no generalisation about Indians in it at all. You certainly generalised about Australians in your comment, though.
.-= Dustbinner´s last blog ..Oh good god – we’re going to need everything we have to get through this one. =-.
That was disgusting.
I couldn’t believe no one even reacted to it.
Good on you jrod to get it out.
.-= Kit Kat´s last blog ..Rest In Peace Huma Akram =-.
What an idiot you are Anirban!!! don’t embarrass us further
wtf? watch the cricket dude. and the guy probably meant no harm. and i should think the mask made hitler look like a buffoon. and whats with the whole moral thingy, getting offended on behalf of the entire jewish community? and why blame bcci and in the process take potshots at them for no fault of theirs? and not to mention your potshot at the indian community by suggesting some of them have their heads up their backsides. stop sermonizing. and nobody is going to offer you or anyone else an apology.
That is strange, i thought i was watching the cricket. I thought that is where I saw it.
and JRod we don’t have any feelings for Jews negative or positive, as there are no Jews here in India. Its just a stupid fad !!!
What an idiot ……………………………………………..
you are , but people do all crazy stuff on getting some attention on TV, like reality TV.
I am not justifying the mask, just saying that there is no genuine antisemitism here !!
@indophile – we do have jews in India. Cochin has one of asia’s oldest Synagogue and even Mumbai has quite a nice Synagogue in South Mumbai. Also lately we have had several Jews from Israel, North America and very few from Europe who have setup their base in India.
Rayden , I know that but still they are pretty much invisible , do you really think that stupid mask guy hate Jews ?
No Jews here in India? What are you talking about Indophile? When did you become an authority on declaring the existence of Jews in the country?
You sound as bad as this Anirban guy.
Comeon guys ..I know there are Jews and Synagogue, been to the Cochin one , but really can’t you see what I mean by that comment
BCCI, not BCCi. Now I am offended.. where is my apology?
Indophile, in that case speak for yourself. I know many of the Cochin Jews on a very personal level, but this isn’t about whether it would offend them or just Jews in general. To show a right wing lunatic celebrate with a Hitler Mask on is incredibly irresponsible broadcasting and should hurt the sensibilities of anyone who doesn’t approve of mass murder and torture, forget the insane level to which the Nazis took this. They might as well have had a 5 minute tribute to glorify pol pot. To call this a “fad” and pretend the guy had no idea what he was doing by wearing that mask is insulting and belittling. I don’t care about him or what he was thinking, but I care that people should have to see that on TV.
Just wondering… As a practicing Hindu, should I not be allowed to have any images of the swastik ( not the swastika) in my house because it has anti Semitic connotations? Or will I join the ranks of “some Indians don’t always see the Holocaust as something that bad, but having your head up your ass isn’t a realistic defence in my mind.”
And I am still waiting for my apology.
Cheers,
Homer, The swatstik is an ancient symbol that a mad man liked, and I can see why, and stole for his own reasons. Ofcourse you can use it. But if you had a hitler mask on the wall next to it, and I know you wont, then that is when your head is up your ass, as an Indian, or as any nationality.
achettup, I am speaking for myself only ( please read the comments). I know you don’t stay in India, but really when you were here, did you really find any Jew haters.
I was not validating Nimbus or BCCI behavior just explaining a known fact that even though there is a very small population of Jews in India but rarely anybody hates them.
And again the guy and all the concerned parties are really out of their mind
@jrod – my apologies.. shouldve said “some aussies” :p
@pedophile – tere ko kya embarrass karu? tu to pehle hi desh ka naam khayega. wht do you mean by “embarrassing us further”???? spk for ureself..
What is wrong with you people !!! is it that difficult to watch the game and enjoy . that dickwad with the mask probably bought it at the first shop he went into n u guys are spending time discussing his ignorant behavior !! Hey Jrod …dont get all preachy…i thought this blog was about cricket !! we dont write huge articles when we see u guys wearing ele[hant masks representing indian gods .. i remember seeing that at the gabba and it was taken in good spirit ….the fukkin idiot who wore the mask wouldnt even know about the holocaust cuz if he did he wudnt be wearing it !!! chill out n watch the indians kik ure ass at the game !!
Aditya, It was shown on the cricket broadcast, so it is about the cricket. I’ve never seen elephant masks at the gabba, but if i had they would have got a mention.
Anirban, some of all people are racists, and idiots.
“Try not to generalize Indians. we all know how racist aussies are. thats a fact, not generalizing.”
anirban , and you were speaking for you and your ass I guess
good to see you responding to your new name :D
Why JRod? Is it because you know me and will therefore give me the benefit of the doubt? If you didn’t, wont I get into the Anti Semitic category( based on the argument you made here)?
Now let me manufacture some outrage for you – The I in the BCCI stands for India. The fact that an Australian blogger chose “i” instead of “I” while taking care to keep the BCC capitalized indicates to me the mentality of the Australians. The fact that the Australian is from Melbourne, and given the spate of racist attacks on Indians in Australia, particularly Melbourne and it is not difficult to see how “bigoted” the blogger is.
Outrageous?
But not dis-similar to the argument you have made.. You assume malice when there is none.
Was it bad Television – Yes.. Was it anti semetic? You tell me.
Cheers,
Sadly Anirban, you are both, probably a racist and definitely an idiot
Indo and blue banana, I gathered the following from your comments:
1) Cricket can be used to cover up any inappropriate gesture because clearly cricket is the bigger picture here
2) There is something wrong with Jrod for being moral
3) The man’s ignorance and attention grabbing tactics means we should just overlook it
That’s what you were trying to say right?
CM, I get moral all the time, like I did over the Bilal Shafayat comments, didn’t see many people complaining about that.
and Anirban, as you are clearly delighted with little joke of yours , go to your bed now
H, The Swatstik is not a racist symbol, Hitler’s face is. That is why I give you the benefit of the doubt. But if I came into your house, I would ask you about it.
I’m not saying there was malice in this, this was just some idiot in a mask, and if he is too stupid to know the connotations of wearing a mask like this then his head is up his ass. Nimbus and Kasprowicz should know better. They shouldn’t be showing someone in a hitler mask, they shouldn’t be making light of it, and most importantly they should own up that they made a mistake.
@indophile
and JRod we don’t have any feelings for Jews negative or positive, as there are no Jews here in India. Its just a stupid fad !!!
We being? I stand by what I said, if you dismiss it as a fad you are doing a great disservice. You might not be aware of fanatical zealots in certain parts of this country who embrace Nazi ideologists to further their stupid goals, but I unfortunately have read up on these groups. It isn’t so much as whether they are anti-semitic, it is more about embracing a doctrine of hate, mass murder and torture towards people in general who they consider to be of an inferior race. I understand that you and I agree on many points, but I’m just saying we shouldn’t brush this under the carpet but instead recognize it while ensuring those who seek to gain from the publicity do not profit. Also you assume far too much.
@Homer Just yesterday I saw a program on BBC where a Hindu priest blessed a couple’s new car, and one of the symbols was the swastik. It was quite clear to anyone who saw that the man was not broadcasting a message of hate. Can you please tell me what you think the guy wearing the mask was hoping to achieve? Was he an advocate for free speech? What exactly were Nimbus trying to achieve by broadcasting the fool’s celebrations, not once but quite a few times during the match?
Ahmedinijad has held conferences inviting people to discuss whether the Holocaust could have existed in the name of free speech, among his invited guests were KKK leaders. If you display the swastika in Germany you can expect a prison sentence, and the same in France if you deny the Holocaust took place. Some people consider these to be a little extreme, but the fact is that the central message is that it is easy at an impressionable age to be influenced by the Nazi doctrine. I’m not sure if JRod was picking on the guy with the mask or Nimbus with that line, but if it was Nimbus I am in full agreement with him, and I think reducing this to an Aus vs Ind flamewar because of the way JRod has chosen to phrase this, diminishes a far greater evil that should be recognized and dealt with appropriately.
CM,
There is nothing wrong with JRod stand, or anything correct about Cricket being the front for right wing nonsense. I happen to be near to this place where the match is happening and can assure you about the point which I was making, that the mask doesn’t stand for antisemitism.
But of course it was disgraceful and media in general should be held responsible
UJ,
So if you came to my house and asked me about it, should I be outraged at your ignorance? I mean, after all, it is a Hindu symbol and I am Hindu and therefore you should know better than asking me about it.
Ignorance is far more common malaise than we give it credit for. I agree that Nimbus should apologize and the producer fired. But at the same time, the fact that Michael Kasprowicz, a man with Eastern European ancestry, chose not to make a big deal of it, tells you what?
Shouldnt I be outraged that a man who should have known better, given his ancestry and the fact that he shared the dressing room with some of the people you mentioned, chose to keep mum rather than express outrage?
The fact that Michael Kasprowicz chose to succumb to mammon than do the right thing is the real scandal here.
Cheers,
Ach,
Not sure I follow…Are you suggesting that because I do not buy UJ’s argument whole, I am anti semetic? Or do you want me to second guess Nimbus’ motivation behind airing the guy’s visage on screen every so often?
The real outrage for me is that when given the chance the stem the rot in the bud, Michael Kasprowicz, who should have known better, chose to play along.
Heads should roll, starting with the producer.. Apologies are neither here nor there (watch the NFL, everyone is apologizing for everything all the time).
Cheers,
Not quite sure where you got that Homer, what I am saying is that you have brought up instances that imho seemed to deflect from the central theme of the post. It just seemed to me that by reproducing the particular phrase JRod no doubt adopted to make the post a little more controversial, you were creating an environment where idiots like this anirban could fuel an irrelevant context.
I don’t know if Kaspers was too shocked or just didn’t know how to react, but I still don’t think thats the crux. How stupid do you have to be as a director/producer to zoom in and focus on the guy. If you’ve got the guy on tape, you can send it to the press and let them bring it up in the right context.
I understand where you are coming from and I don’t mean to accuse you of having an ulterior motive, because I think I know you well enough to know where you stand on the real issue here. Cheers.
H, if you had any of the following, a dead fox, a picture of delta goodrem, or a swatstik on your wall i would ask about them all. Sort of person I am.
I’m definitely pissed off with Kapsa, although to be fair i’ve always been pissed of with him. He can’t claim ignorance.
I think Nimbus and Kasprowicz are the scandal, hence why I led with them.
Not surprising to see the Hitler mask.. we even use Mein Kampf as a “self-improvement and management strategy guide” in India. http://bit.ly/1D1H1T
Should Nimbus/BCCI apologise every time they show and praise Narendra Modi at a cricket match? Many consider him guilty of genocide.
So where does the BCCI feature in all of this?
H, Shastri said, these pictures are brought to you by Nimbus on behlaf of the BCCi.
Homer I take that back, it certainly wasn’t you who was creating a context for an Aus-Ind flamewar, going through “blue banana”‘s comment and seeing how easy it was to stoke anirban into reacting makes me wonder if irresponsibly acting responsible is the way to go about things. A pity anirban played right into it. As long as the central issue, which to me is about denouncing the broadcast of fascist ideology is what gets the most attention, I guess thats all that matters to me.
Just curious Jrod, why the BCCi instead of BCCI?
Just like Sky Sports telecasts images on behalf of the eCB. Or Channel 9 for Ca.Oh wait! behalf means different things in different geographies.. My bad!
H, maybe I got it wrong, but i thought the BCCi owned the images and brought the company in to film it. Rather than selling the images like the others do. If it is the same system will happily take down the slight on the BCCi. Not everything I do is a conspiracy against India, surprisingly.
Ach, It started with a typo, I have two huge errors that I always make when typing, one is putting a capital O in POnting’s name, and the other was the BCCi. I am obviously shit at typing in general, but even more so with capslock. Or perhaps they were both subconscious. But I kept the BCCi one as I am not their biggest fan, didn’t keep the Ponting one because it looks stupid.
are the aussies deliberately not talking about the match, or what?
If you are serious about holocausts, and not just a typical white-skinned liberal, read this

Interested in the mind-set that protests too much – read this:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ZESTAlternative/message/193
Hey Jrod, I can understand why you are not a fan of BCCI but why keep the i as small caps – the ” i ” stands for India. You can keep bccI if you wish – bcc in small caps. Although that would look stupid as well but most people will understand. Also just because someone does not know about the holocaust does not mean they are bad people. I am sure not everyone in the world will know the attrocities commited by the British on Indians etc – for example: killing one Indian and asking the other Indian to clean the blood stains on the floor using their tongue – now just because people dont know about these does not mean they are bad people or when they praise these same generals or past queens, that does not mean they are trying to insult Indians.
The guy in the mask was an complete Idiot. Unfortunately I am sure a lot of the camera men of Nimbus dont know about the holocaust and thought – hey look – man with mask – how funny – lets focus on him. The guy who did know about it was probably Michael Kasprowicz and he should have informed the producers immediately on what grave mistake they were commiting. If he did, and they still focused on the guy, then they all should be fired. If not, I am sure most of the guys at Nimbus didnt realize what they were doing. I myself didnt know about the holocaust till few years back. I just thought Hitler was a madman trying to take over the world. Does that make me a bad person or someone trying to insult jews?
Bcci would be guilty if
A) they insisted on the hitler mask being televised
B) if they fail to condemn it in retrospect atleast
There is no need to blame them in advance before seeing how they react. That’s where, jrod, you erred. Spot on about nimbus and kaspro. But including bcci seems like “let’s bcci, everyone loves that”.
Kasper is unforgivable. Someone in india may not even know about hitler but kasper has no excuse.
Question here; many sri lankan tamils now consider rajapakshe as a genocider. So, we shld start protesting if he attends a cricket match in colombo? Same as modi in ahmedabad? Yeah, and what price george bush? Is it ok to wear a bush mask? Or, should we hold him responsible for the millions of lives lost in afghan and iraq for a phoney war on terrorism?
UJ,
You got it wrong wrt the BCCI-Nimbus deal. And that is because of your ignorance, nothing more nothing less.
Enough to get me outraged?
Cheers,
And yes, a few lords and decorated geberals in 19th century britain, whose photos are probably in a respectful position in lord’s might have indulged in despicable acts in india. And elsewhere. If you don’t know about it, should I call you head up in ass? Where does this stop?
You dont even have to go that far back Raj. Winston Churchill, war hero, was primararily instrumental in one of the biggest genocides in history – the Bengal Famine
Rayden, I you look at my site design you will see I don’t like capital letters. Other than in sentences in the posts, i almost never use them. If it wouldn’t cause me more work by explaining why i didn’t use them, i’d never use them.
Raj & Jogesh, You both forgot Genghis Khan and Napoleon. There are people who watched the cricket today who lived through the blitz and the holocaust. The face of Hitler is not a joke to them. You can name dozens of other people, and I may even agree with most of the people you blame, but Hitler is a given, 90% of people who know about him agree he was a monster. It isn’t something for a cricket commentator to laugh along with.
H, I hope the survivors of my ignorant mistake accept my apology.
UJ,
You can always remedy it by getting rid of the BCCI references in the blog.. Easy doozy..
Cheers,
H, had already done that.
Thank you Sir!
