I haven’t checked my rss feed for a few days, and then i do and i see this shit:
“Cricket Australia has reappointed Andrew Hilditch as the chairman of the national selection panel until the end of the 2011 World Cup.
Hilditch was retained despite Australia’s 2-1 series loss to England in this year’s Ashes series.
Hilditch has been chairman of selectors since 2006 and a selector since 2000.”
The bastards slipped this in.
I thought he was supposed to be fired, not reinstated for years.
In charge for the next Ashes series – marvellous. Every little helps!
I saw the title of this an panicked, in case it was some new editorial decree.
Very pleased to see that it was, instead, good news for every other cricket playing nation
Now you know how we English feel, we’ve still got Geoff Miller picking the same failing batsmen for the test team that have been failing for 12-18 months, in some cases longer and then claiming he has dropped players from the ODI squad for not being consistent enough over the last 12 months!!
If you think you’ve got it bad you’re almost assured of Collingwood still being the anchor of England’s batting in 14 months time. And if thats not enough, if for some reason, maybe injury, Strauss dosen’t make the trip then Alastair Cook will be captaining the side!!
Geez Jrod, you’re so cynical. It all followed appropriate procedures…
After a disastrous Ashes defence full of many selection blunders, Andrew Hilditch organised a vigorous, ‘no stone left unturned’ review of selectors.
Andrew Hilditch found that Andrew Hilditch had in fact done a sterling job and Andrew Hilditch felt that Andrew Hilditch definitely deserved an extension for another few years. Andrew Hilditch was naturally very pleased with Andrew Hilditch’s decision and has vowed to pay back Andrew Hilditch’s continued faith in his abilities.
Geez Hilditch is just waiting till Haydos gets up to speed, then he will step down. Give the poor bastard a break will ya!
there goes the sisters of mercy reunion.
hurrah.
hold on
Fuck, so Michael Hussey will continue to play test cricket then
I was planning on making a comment, but I can’t think of anything more appropriate than your post title.
It’s long been said it’s harder to get out of the Australian side than it is to get in. Just as applicable for the selectors obviously. Are we still feeling sorry for him because he is probably the only batsman in history to be given out handled ball at the bowler’s end?
Would’t it rot your socks?
