If Australia had a chance to knock out South Africa by losing a game of cricket, they wouldn’t plan on doing it, but I bet it would cross their minds when they got behind.

I just saw in the news that the resignation was rejected by PCB. So I guess Younis is still the captain which is a good thing for Pakistan cricket.
I think they initially planned to take it easy on Australia. They didn’t think Mohd Asif would get in form so fast and bring them back in the game. If Pakistan had won that much, Australia would have still gone through ahead of India. no? Wouldn’t India and Australia have both been on 3 points with Australia having the better net run rate? Unless of course Australia were completely thrashed in said match.
Pete, in the end India ended up with a lesser NRR than Aus. But if Aus had lost, then India would have known exactly how many overs they needed to overhaul WI’s score in to go higher than Aus’s NRR. In that case, Karthik and Kohli wouldnt have ambled along at snail’s pace. Given that it was West Indies, very likely that India would have qualified. But I am happy they didnt because it punctures the Dhoni fairy tale :-)
I notice the MP appears to have retracted his statement now. From my point of view (and I don’t know what the perceived view of Younis is inside Pakistan) as an outsider looking in I hope he stays on as Captain as he has always come accross as a very humble man and a great ambassador for Pakistani cricket.
With incidents like this Pakistan cricket needs its good people and Younis who appears to be a man of great integrity would be one of those.
I just hope there is not some other underlying reason for this all, for example, like some internal players dispute that might be the real reason behind it.

Khan should file a case and demand proof of these allegation from the MP, the stations to broadcast these accusations and ask the icc to clerify this matter as these accusation originated after indias knockout from icc ct

and where is the icc, accusations have been made about matchs played in a tournament orgnaised by them, what signal is icc sending out, yes? there is match fixing going on in matchs organised by them because they havent made a statement about the matchs, what about south africa what were the pundits saying they are favourite to win the tournement and what about india they didnt make to semis sore losers was it the indian media i heard made the first alligations.icc needs to needs to pull its pants up because all its good for at the momment is making money for it self not realy caring about the game or the players, can u imagine if all the asain teams pulled out of icc how boaring cricket would be, im regular visiter to the icc site i have to say the asain teams dont get the same coverage as the other teams. how can the governing body of such a beautiful game alow politicians and media to make accusations like this about matchs played under them, i say there is some spring cleaning is due in the house of icc.
