I was supposed to do my debut commentary on the Ashes this morning.
And I aint backing out.
But don’t expect me to do it if it rains.
I am no BBC/ABC wanker, I don’t have endless anecdotes about dead journalists to entertain you.
I could do a couple of minutes of my stand up routine from ’99, but I doubt it would actually “stand up”.
If it isn’t raining I will go live, if it is, I will watch old episodes of californication.

How stupid is Ricky Ponting really? Rains during the day, a delayed start,pitch sweating under the covers, heavy outfield – and what does he do? Elects to bat first with an opening pair!!
And this on a truncated day’s play!!!!
I can understand compensating for 05, but what of overcompensating?
I would much rather bowled first, given that the game is going to be affected by rain and England will be hurting because of KP’s absence.
And what better time to open up some old scars( hello belly) than this?
Much better to give the bowlers a bite of the cherry when conditions aid rather than hope that conditions remain the same when my bowling turn comes.

H, The only reason I wouldn’t have batted first is because Watson was opening. But i suppose if they believed he could be an opener, they can’t really hide him by not batting first.
