Rahul’s IPL

’09

3 matches

134 runs

High score of 66

Average of 44

Strike rate of 144

Worth a million?

’08

14 matches

371 runs

High score of 75*

Average of 28

Strike rate of 124

Throw in the dodgy captaining as well.

He also had the 2nd worst strike rate of anyone in the top 12 run scores, only Graeme Smith had a lower strike rate, but he averaged 48.

This year he has been the best batsman in the tournament.

So far.

And it isn’t far, only 3 games, But he is.

He has the pretty little hat, his fans are excited,  and at the moment he is worth the money he is being paid.

Last year he wasn’t.

If I was rewriting my Bangalore post at the moment, I would change KP to Model and Rahul to porn star.

Rahul is happy…. he should start a fake blog too…

  2. Gana says:

Even last year also he was BRC’s best batsman by far. He got million$ because BRC paid 900K on Kallis who was worthless last year and worthless this year also so far.
Considering that Dravid definitely worth million$ last year and whatever he is getting paid this year.
Dodgy captaincy ? It is bit overrated isn’t it ? considering how KP is captaining this side so far. Dravid was better than KP. KP did not even use complete quota of Steyn’s overs today.

Gana, being BRC’s best batsman last year is like being the most talented actor on a soap opera. Being a better captain than KP is about the same again. 900000k on Kallis, i think I covered that nugget of stupidity last year, I asked for a job and a salary of 900,001 from the IPL. I wouldn’t say anyone at BRC was worth a million last year.

  3. Pontings_baldspot says:

Trading away Zaheer Khan for Uthappa was by far the worst trade of the IPL.. Is Mallya consulting with Isiah Thomas ???

  4. Barney says:

i think that is for the superhero staus…

  5. poopsie says:

Perhaps, but is he entertaining? It will now be a tussle to see who creates the biggest global yawn at BRC – KP or RD

  6. Barney says:

RD’s innings today was total pornstar material…

  7. Anand says:

KP is bigwaste. He is showpony. If you are ready to pay 1.55 million dollars for someone who makes 43 runs in 3 games at strike rate of 93, I guess u can pay little less for Rahul who has scored 130 odd runs ar 44 average and 140+ strike rate.

I wish he had freed himslef of these inhibitions he had when he played for India in ODIs. You or anyone would not be making those statements

We know how Indian cricket works. You ask a player to play a role and then put him down for just doing what was asked of him. Check Akash Chopra and Rahul when Indians had horrible players in late 90s..

  8. Anand says:

hi what’s ur take on J Kallis and Ray jennings ? what are these guys upto ?

I bet you, whichever the matches kallis plays BRC wont win it. Mallya would be beter off with stuffing another 900K in Kallis’ ass and kick the heavy ass out !

  9. raj says:

jrod, KP – $1.35 million for a sub-100 strike rate and sub-standard captaincy. I guess avg 28, strike rate 126 that Rahul clocked last year is well worth $1m if KP can be paid 1.35m.
If Yuvraj Singh can be paid $1m for doing nothing in a) IPL 1 b) IPL 2, then Rahul well deserves his.
Sachin got more than Rahul for doing less last year – so yes, Rahul deserves it better.
If Ricky Ponting can get $350000, then Rahul is well worth 10 times that.

Well, Lalit Modi is milking billions of dollars probably into his Swiss bank account – no way I would grudge a fine player and a gentleman like Rahul Dravid a million dollars. Especially when he didnt fail last time like Sachin.
Vijay Mallya deserves to be ripped off his ill-gotten fortune. Rahul deserves his million. yeah.

  10. Sunny says:

@raj – how did sachin fail last time? he was injured for most of it. and when he got back effing bhajji was gone for the season. even then they were 1 wkt away from the semis.

@anand – KP has been a disaster. poor captaincy, getting outbatted by dravid and worse virat kohli. almost decapitating his numero uno bowler. keeping up his pie-chucker reputation with some wickets. he is prolly missing his wife…time to go home.
