Congratulations John

I’d like to be on the record and say that John Buchanan’s new multiple captains theory seems a little stupid.

It’s unfair to bag a system before it has been used.

Any system where Brad Hodge is involved and involves rotation seems doomed to fail in my mind.

Perhaps it can be used if a team has no obvious captaincy material, or if you have been mainlining tequila, but otherwise using one captain is the best option.

But for the Kolkata Knightriders I back the deicision.

Not because I think it will work, but because it pisses of The Giant Alien Lizard Ganguly who loses his special little title, and because it is being reported that people are burning John Buchanan effigies.

Everybody wins.

As the enemy of my enemy has been screwed by the original enemy, I think all enemies involved.

On a side note: My question to the effigy burners is, do you have them just lying around, is there a shop, are they cheaper on ebay?

I am very interested.

Well instead of having three or four captains, why doesn’t John Buchanan just announce he is the real captain. That is the fact. The KKR owner has given all the powers to Buchanan, he calls the shots, he decides who is in, who is out, why plays where, strategies etc, so why have a captain at all.

Having so many captains will just spoil the team unity and players won’t know who to follow. Instead if they are told, there is no captain, just listen to Buchanan, it could work out.

I’m eagerly awaitig Warne’s entry ito this debate. I guess he know about having numerous people to service.

The reason why this system has to be bad is that everyone is talking about it. Really, even in cricket, the captain doesn’t make too much difference unless people start to doubt the captain. But here it is being doubted before any decisions have even been made. Furthermore Ganguly seems not to like it and he is a bad guy to have around unhappy in a locker room. Especially in the IPL where I think morale/motivation are much more important than in the international game.

    This is totally insane stuff!!!

And where do you get off upsetting Kolkata people for thier beloved Dada. This is the same crowd that once did not allow Sunil gavaskar to enter Eden Gardens because he did select Kapil Dev (who is not even from there but a big hero in Kolkata). These people are crazy and and KKR are probably the only franchise with a passionate fan base (Most other IPL team fans are there just for the laughs but these guys are crazy)

In the backstreets of Mumbai, there is a black market for effigies. Particularly popular are those of Australians, I hear. I should know this because I watched Slumdog Millionaire. That practically makes me an expert on Mumbai.

Amy, LOL. What with jrod’s endorsement and all, I guess another praise may not mean much for you but your blog’s good and the above comment was quite profound, if one thinks about it.

  8. Pontings_baldspot says:

Is ShahRukh Khan one of the captains, considering “he is one of the best human beings the Knight Riders have met”?

  9. Sunny says:

well i can see the sledging from warnie now. he really got stuck into KKR last year. this year its going to be even easier!
