Ofcourse, Yuvraj has caught everything. Funny thing is every time he drops a catch at close cordon which hass been happening for years, Ravi Shastri and co say “usually he is a safe hand”. And this has been going on for years.
Dinesh Karthik dropped like what one catch. Dhoni has dropped a few in the last few tests – thankfully India didnt lose so he got away. Karthik is not worse than Dhoni only that he doesnt have the batting and captaincy suits as Dhoni does – which justifies Dhoni over Karthik but doesnt justify claims that Dhoni is a better keeper. After all, Dhoni did piss in his pants when the question of keeping for tests in Sri Lankan pitches came up. Who atleast had the courage to go there?
@raj – courage raj? karthik doesn’t rate. at all. not absolving dhoni’s keeping skills but karthik is hopeless.
Perhaps the pitches fungal infection might have flared up Dhoni’s more private fungal infection?
Yuvraj drops caches yet is proclaimed as the best Indian fielder. Karthik drops simple catches yet he is proclaimed the better keeper. Seems like the exterior appearances of cricketers has a huge say in people’s perceptions about them. Heck, Sehwag is held as a better opener than Jaffer and SS Das just now (I remember how people were in such a hurry to drop Him after a lean patch since He was not a “proper” opener).
Ohh btw, Ryder is one of those rare specimens who make the sweep shot look sexy (A Flower was the other one).
Ross Taylor seems to be picking Harbhajan’s doosra better than anyone I have seen.
The pitch looks dead. Could be that Ryder is making it look dead – kinda like God himself.
Sunny, there is not much to choose between Karthik and Dhoni as keepers. This is not to say that Karthik is a good keeper. But the automatic assumption that Dhoni is the better keeper just because he is the better batsman(and captiancy skills, which ofcourse is way beyond what Karthik can ever imagine), is what I was pointing out. Not holding out a placard for Karthik here. Just the logical fallacy.
Dhananjay, just wait for Rahul, Sachin and Lax looking terrified of the pitch after Sehwag goes early. This might be an innings defeat for India. India WILL lose the Napier test going on now.
@raj – Keepingwise you say Dhoni and Karthik are the same(dispute th. However Dhoni is the better cricketer (better batsman, captain courageous).
I will not say this soon about India losing. Give it another 2 days. As Aakash Chopra says in his beautiful book, one cannot say about the state of a match till the third day.

You are counting on Sehwag going early. The problem is by the time India get to bat, this pitch will lose whatever little venom it had. Chances are, if God passes 50, God will make 300 on this one.
horatius, there, Sehwag HAS gone. less than 50. I say, the moment jrod predicted an indian victory, and blogged about it so smugly, Indian chances went in smoke. Also, Dhoni’s arrogance about it doesnt matter where we practice. Somehow, HUBRIS seems to have instant reprisals for Indians, too just like Bucknor while others take years to be cured of hubris, somehow Indian bloggers(achettup for one), Indian cricketers and captains seem to receive instant justice – before they are done typign the last word of gloating, they are done in :-).
The only exception is jrod, who continues to receive jolts on all predictions/backing he does.
I propose that given this, we impeach jrod from beign a high priest of sehwagology – he brings bad luck to GOD :-)
