Wicket keepers; too stressful a job for you to be able to captain correctly.
Bowlers; the body is bruised, the mind is busy, can’t captain.
Opening batsmen; out in the field have to start mentally preparing for batting.
First drop; the most important batsman, should be their to just bat.
Second drop; these days they seem to be the best batsman, but are often a touch slow, can’t captain.
Middle order; usually have to bowl part time, shouldn’t have any extra pressure on them.
Obviously this only leaves us with ex captains who commentate.

How about having a 12th man captain? I know carting a tray around is an art but still.
What about a Non-Playing Captain as in Davis Cup tennis? The Windies trialled this – NPC able to direct players to leave field on gaining stunning statistical victory .. oh…
