sachin called it right…he said this was the most explosive batting line-up he has played in. maybe the sachin, sourav, dravid, azhar line up was more consistent (they all crossed 10,000 runs) but the current setup virtually all can tee-off when required. sourav can go suck on a lemon.

I’m not quite sure about this statement by sachin.. Game-beer , Raina, Rohit , Uthappa[if considered] along wit Ishant, P.K, Pathan bro’s are not very consistent and haven played for a long enuf period to justify that. They surely have better results but against not the standard of opposition their peers had previously, Kiwis stand as an example there. But by no respect is this team any worse than their peers on current form and records. they r happy to break batting records and better the bowling records. Bowling can still improve a lot…
Dada on the other hand was rite ! not the best o.d.i team ever ! cus that was not IND anyways !!
@pete – i hope so…but 2 years is a long time in ODIs. they could be rebuilding this team again next year if things get pear shaped!!
I think sachin is right in that if it is flat track..But this indian team need uthappa in the seventh spot not yusuf pathan. He can’t field , he can’t catch and he can’t play fast bowling. He is same league as afridi. Hit or miss. Might be in the team just to scare opposition and hide their spinners.
India need a heavy ball medium pace all rounder at 7th spot. Hope uthappa learn to bowl slow medium pace like mohinder amarnath.
Even with explosive batting , i just donot like either pathan brothers. They slack off. Try to make money by playing 50% level. They do not try hard in fielding , catching and they irfan pathan suck in bowling , yusuf pathan can’t bat against fast bowlers.
on FLAT TRACK , this is best team.
They arent the best team,ODIs,i.e but they are good side and not just flat track bullys ,if that is what you ment .They smacked the aussie’s in there own backyard in the odi’s.
They are the fittest indian team.they have quality fast bowlers in ishant and zaheer .adequate back options.praveen did well in ozi.bascially aprt from ishant and zaheer rest of the pace bowlers are “horses for courses” material,which gives the team flexibility. Bhaji , when his mind is at the right place, is pretty good spinner. considering the fact that both raina and rohit are 21 -22 we can excpet them to get consistent with time. dhoni is leading fromt he front ,shewag is goin all guns blazing.yuraj is top form gambhir is gettign there.in ODIs.Test Match he is there.
Earliear in the decade, we did well but never out side the subcontinent .world cup 2003 was an exception., hardly won ay fainls. .and this was when gangluy and dravid were on top of there game.fitness was abysmal.
the team of 84 whihc won in australia were not as consistent whihc this team has been since the australian tour.
