The Magoff

Australia have put their hands deeper into the barrel, and pick out a fairly tasteless piece of something.

You see,Peter Sizzle and Hilfy are under injury conerns.

They did bowl alot of overs in that first test, and now are sore.

So Australia has called over yet another replacement bowler, this time Steve Magoffin.

He is a tall fella from WA, who has taken alot of wickets this year.

I have never really rated him, he first got picked around the time Western Austrlia were looking for imports and Magoffin came over from Queensland.

His first class record is respectable, and year after year he has taken wickets, but I just don’t see him as a test class fast bowler.

At 29 he is no spring chicken, and I don’t see him coming in as a new Stuart Clark or anything.

The three choices were Dorey, Nannes and Magoffin.

Dirty Dirk would have been the attacking option, so he had little chance.

Three Storey Dorey must have been close to selection as well, but the Magoff batting might have edged him out.

I think Magoff will struggle at international level, I don’t think his bowling is penetrating enough.

Although he really shouldn’t play, as Siddle or Hilfy will probably play, and Geeves will come in.

Not to mention that Australia didn’t want to change this winning line up, but with Siddle out they might have to look at that and bring Byrce in, against their better judgement.

Magoff hasn’t been mentioned on here much before, but there are a couple.

“Magoffin is a wicket taker, Edmondson is proper quick, and Dorey is tall.”

“Edmondson and Magoffin have to take about 12 wickets a game for this side leapfrog Victoria or Queensland into the final.”

David Warner is still the only Australian player to play before a CWB mention.

And look how he has gone since.

Is it just me or this guy totally reminds me of Dizzy in action. I don’t know if he is half as good though

I understand what you mean about Warner getting called up before being mentioned on your blog. Similarly, David Hussey has not done so well since not accepting my FB friend request. The chickens will come home to roost, Hussey.

You have to question wether there injuries are a result of going into the last test with 3 frontline bowlers.

Australian cricket is an a strange state when they are picking players alot of fans haven’t heard of.

Neerav, that is a pretty good call, its very dizzy/matt nicholson esque.

    Nick, yes you do.

Agree with Nick on only 3 frontline bowlers being cause of injuries to them. It would be a shame for either of these two to get a bigger injury if the same team is selected again. After a long time you guys have a potent attack – why do you want to convert likes of Johnson in stock bowlers when they are best fast and furious.

On a side note good to see Johnson developing the one that comes in to the right hander. After failing to impress anyone initially he is fast becoming the best in the world. Strange how only thing that matters for success is how hungry you are. Anyone noticed how Johnson is consistently faster than Steyn.
