England
Lost the toss well, and then just batted their little hearts out.
West Indies
Once they found out the pitch was fat lost all interest in the game.
No one bowler had more than 17 overs. The new ball was neglected, the part time spinners bowled more than the quicks, and had 3 chances to end Strauss.
Who is in front
England, and then some.
Play of the day
Owais Shah’s run out. The day was pretty dry with Strauss making the runs, and the pitch looking flat, but Shah livened it up for all of us.
Running your self out on that pitch is the cricket version of self flagellation.
Testicular moment of the day
Strauss has to get this. It may have been a flat pitch, and he may have had alot of luck, but when you captain a side who made 51 last innings and you make a big hundred that takes a pair.
Working class moment
Alistair Cook, some people work hard their whole life but they never grab their oppurtunities.
Had the referral system been used, Strauss would have been out twice yesterday.
12th, under the referral system i don’t think either of his LB shouts could have been out. the umpire made no obvious mistakes in either decision, it just came down to judgement which you can’t overturn.
Agreed. But Harper could have thought differently, if the system was in place.
I thought that the appeal of Chris Gayle was pretty close actually, though the ball had some distance to go.
I would have given it out, but not on referral from a not out.
