Two of the oddest things in the cricket world happened at one time.
Australia won a cricket game.
And Grant Elliott made an international hundred.
I can’t believe that.
Either of them really.
But obviously the Grant was is a little more surreal.
Luckily I haven’t seen it, because that sort of head fuck could make my head explode.
The transvaalite who has come to International cricket via Gauteng, Griqualand West, Transvaal and Wellington is now a one day centurion.
I don’t think anyone really thought Grant could make an international hundred, and I include Grant in that.
He looks, smells, and tastes like a bits and pieces all rounder.
You know the type, can sort of bowl, can hold the bat, and is the first person out of the team when they are losing.
Now he has an international hundred, not for his country, but for a country.
Who says you can’t be rewarded for leaving the country of your birth to “represent” another country.
Imagine how happy he is today.
Not as happy as he would be if he played for South Africa, but still…
There were a couple of years at Canterbury in between Traansvaal and Wellington. And Canterbury’s full of Saffers these days, so there was probably some kind of ancient provincial rivalry that saw him leave there.
It wasn’t that surreal Jrod; journeymen South Africans have been scoring runs against Australia all summer.
a certain someone (also a journeyman saffer) loves to not score centuries for a country…
LB, did he play first class cricket there, cause it doesn’t show in cric info. And at least the others were good enough to play for their own country.
Ankit, but that one has an english mother.
Yup, he played for Canterbury all right. Another reason he’s hard to warm to.
There a fast bowler SA refugee playing for star-studded Glamour Queens Otago at the moment called Wagner who will be donning the Black hugging baseball shirt in a couple of years when he qualifies.
And there are a handful of refugee journeymen (all pygmies) who are playing for Canterbury waiting for the clock to tick over for them too. One of them is captain and he has names like Cornelius Kruger in case we’d forgotten where he was from.
But they’re crap too, so hopefully it won’t get too embarrassing.
Vettori is pretty stupid. Wins the toss and sends them in on a flat deck when he has a popgun bowling attack. He must have looked at the two unconvincing run chases NZ made and thought they can chase down anything, when actually they have been very lucky Aust has played badly.
Elliott missed out on the IPL auction, He is worth 200000
Guys please,
did any of you really compared the capabilities of these 2 teams….? I hope not!
it can’t be compared. NZ won, cos the Indians wanted them to win and the Indians had all the money!
As soon as India overtook Australia, the ego war was all but won, and then they let it go, and voila, australia win…
friends, I am a massive fan of G.Elliott. a little bit of background history! He played for south africa U/19′s and scored a double hundred against the poms looking at his stats. He is also by the looks of things no more a bits and pieces player than James Hopes and a Ravi Bopara. He playes second fiddle to Jacob Oram who is undoubtedly one of the best allrounders in the world?! Give this guy a break.I have met him and he is an awesome guy who is worth far more in IPL than half those mugs!I cant believe he missed out on a contract when T.henderson went for over $500 000!
