The crowd
Where are they?
What is the go?
5 day passes only.
Over priced at that.
And tendulkar makes a century to a county cricket crowd.
The BCCi need to fix this, and quick.
I know they no longer care about test cricket, but it would be nice if the people who did could go to a game.
The over rate
Victoria bowled 91.1 overs in a day against NSWales and took 10 wickets, and then batted for a few overs.
18 overs were bowled by spinners.
Australia bowled 87 overs in their day, with an extra half an hour, and had 41 overs bowled by spinners and only 5 wickets.
This has to be Ricky Ponting’s fault.
If the ICC had any balls he would miss the entire New Zealand tour.
Castration is too good for him, but I can’t think of anything worse right now.
I am sure the 8 fans at the ground were pissed too.
Haha, People have to work? In India folks dont drink alcohol much, so its not enough excitement to sit in the burning sun and watch forward defense for 30 minutes before hitting runs. No? Why do people watch test cricket at grounds without commentary and replays? If u wanna hang out u can go to a bar or cofee pub and watch a few overs. Seriously, live “test cricket” is overrated :D for the actual cricket. Now if warne, or Wasim Akram or Gilchrist play theres excitement. Sachin no longer makes it fun to go just to watch him play, no?
Well said on the over rates.Bloody well said. Even the fiddling, tinkering Vaughan used to get his guys through the day faster than that with mainly guys with ridiculously long run-ups.
I love cricket. If its on telly and I can’t get out of work to watch it, I tape it. If I can’t see it on telly (because I refuse to pay for TV), I listen on the radio, and if its not on the radio I follow it on the net. I read cricinfo and cwb every day, usually several times. I never go to a ground to watch it live (actually I do, but they are games I am playing in, or Shield matches that I wouldn’t see on telly). Why? The only yobbo fuckwits I am interested in are the ones playing, and me. At home I have a beer or a cone when I like, piss in a clean toilet, see the players close up and in replay, and can even keep my wife happy through doing the odd chore in the breaks or sitting with my baby in my lap. Why on earth would I travel miles to an uncomfortable venue to be inconvenienced by the drunken assholes around me, and at the same time not even see the game very well? I’d have to tape it so I could watch it when I get home.

Personally i’d prefer to go to the cricket than watch it on the TV. I think you see more with your eyes than you do with the camera, although i like watching it at the g with a radio on and a replay screen as well. Idiotique, If there weren’t 5 day passes the people who were off work could have gone. But with that rule, you are stopping people for going in for one days cricket. LB, its really getting to me.
Apart from in England how many people go to all 5 days anyway? It’s just impractical. So what are you going to do about the over rates Jrod?
ned kelly> i think going to the cricket is more than just for watching the game. that might sound weird but there is something about being at the ground that you really cant reproduce on the tv. the atmosphere and of course the abuse you can hurl on someone near the line.but the culture in asia is different i think in SL, Ind, Pak the culture is to watch the game from home- test cricket at least. the average person has a lot more things to worry about to put that on hold to go for the game. its sad but what you gonna do.jrod, i think even if you gave them day passes it wont really work because of what i said above. but at least they should give them the opportunity !
its typical india…build an awesome stadium, the most spectator friendly venue in the nation and then sell only 5 day passes. brilliant!even tendulkar got pissed off and left early. what’s the point of a big hundred if there is no crowd.
The money collected from spectators are pennies for BCCI, they won’t bother. Also for a Indian citizen 5 days pass, expensive tickets, scorching sun doesn’t make it attractive. We don’t have proper parking/toilet facilities near in the ground and the security measures(thanks to terrorists/bomb blasting) are real pain in the ass. Then how do you expect crowd on Indian Grounds?. But there are some die hard fans in Chennai/Kolcatta/Bangalore/Mumbai who makes to the ground. I don’t agree that 20/20 killed test matches.
