the day that was

Australia

Did well to make 430.

Would be concered about Watson’s non shot, and White’s easy dismissal.

It looks like Hussey can play test innings in India.

Do they need to get Sehwag out before lunch to win?

No, but they should just to be on the safe side.

India

They seem to need individual brilliance to get fired up.

Seemed even flatter in the field today.

Kumble’s captaincy is done by numbers, and he and Bhaji bowled way too many overs today considering there other quicks were the inform bowling.

Is Sehwag there most threatening spinner in this test?

Sadly yes, but that will change.

Who is in front

430 runs, is 430 runs.

Australia is in front, but it’s only a Sehwag innings away from India being in front.

If Australia van get him early they should go ahead and win the test.

Play of the day

Zaheer Khan’s bellows as he took tailenders wickets with the score over 400.

It showed that he is fired up for this series, and is not a big one for looking at the scoreboard.

Testicular moment of the day

The spells of Ishant Sharma, he beat Watson with pace and White and Haddin with skill, and when the tail was falling apart he wasn’t allowed a bowl to get a 5 for.

Working class man of the day

Michael Hussey, the King Probot was all over India with the nudges and the nurdles, his singles were simply breath taking.

Loved the satire as usual, JROd. On Hussey and his breath-taking singles, he is everything Michael Bevan should have been in Test cricket. Of course Hussey has the advantage of never having to face a surly Curtley Ambrose. In fact it looks almost impossible to bowl a bouncer on the dead track in Bangalore.

the trouble with Kumble, is that, although he’s a nice bloke, he hasn’t got a brain, a cricketing one, that is. O f course, having no fielders, just a lot of store dummies, doesn’t help, either. Australia all over India at the moment. Though I hope Dravid gets a big one at home. dead silence when Tendulkar got out.

It looks like the only difference between the two teams is the toss. Both seem lost when dealing with tail-Enders.

The difference is a clear as the Tasmanian sky. Two Australians reached centuries and no Indians even got close.
