South Africa have turned up in India with a plethora of players who are simply not that good.
Not all of them are quota selections.
The Dean Jones suspected terrorist Amla is chief in point.
The dude is a grafter playing one level beyond his capabilities.
He is the sort of batsmen you would expect in a Minnow 7 years after their admission.
If the man payed two attacking shots in a row he would spontaneously combust.
My thoughts on Ashwell Prince are well known, I think he plays test cricket like the little kid in the play ground with mittens on.
AB DeVilliers and Neil MacKenzie remind me of many of the young South African batsmen of recent times.
They come into the side with pure techniques, good eyes and cocky attitudes.
3 or 4 years later they all average in their 30’s and commentators are at pains to mention how good their fielding is.
Graeme Smith is a batsmen who averages 22 against Australia, and over 50 against all the minnows and England. So he’s irrelevant.
Jacques Kallis is the only full on ridgy didge a ok test batsmen in heir side, and well he is Jacques Kallis.
Why am I writing all this, because at stumps today of the 1st test between South Africa and India, South Africa are 4 for 304.
Ouch.
Imagine what score they would be if anyone of them were any good.
And is Ishant Sharma having his adams apple removed, because that is the only excuse that is valid to not have him in ahead of Sreesanth.
Day One to South Africa in a canter.
Oh and Morne Morkel is playing, he shall henceforth be known as the Evil Morne Morkel.
Amla and McKenzie are better batsmen now. Or thats what I’d like to think.
John If that’s what gets you through the night, you take it with you and put it on your pillow.
Mixed feelings on this, it hurts that South Africa can do that to India where we couldn’t. But it’ll mean South Africa will be in fine form against England, which is good for me.
Amla is getting better. He appears to be quite a solid player now, and his average is climbing all the time,he averaged 44 last year, and is averaging nigh on 54 this year.Mackenzie is also about 104yrs old, he’s no young buck!
They’re playing on a typical sub-continent road. This is not ideal preparation for a swinging summer in The England
I’ll take what I can get.
Amla is getting better? That’s the truth is it? He has batted against the West Indies, New Zealand and bangladesh for his average of 54 this year. I meant when Mackenzie came into the side he was a young buck, but that was 8 years ago, and now his face is quickly becoming some sort of leather compound.
Let’s give Amla credit where credit’s due: his spectacular beard.
a vaild point, but he averaged over a 100 against NZ, and no The England player got any where near that.
See if the executioner started with a beard reference I’d be with him, but no beard reference or even any dean jones jokes.
I like the Suave much better. And he did face the broken down miserable New Zealand, not the we’re not that bad New Zealand the england faced.
Yeah, you’re right..That executioner of truth fella, is an arse.Suave’s back, and he loves the beard, hates Dean Jones, and wants to see most of the saffer side burn in a fire!
Oops, that was weekend suave…She’s not allowed out during the week, the hussy.
Suave is like an onion.
Brilliant.
Ishant injured his finger or he’s suffering from a swollen Adam’s apple. I’d love to see that one.
someone call the fire brigade, there’s some spontaneous combustion due.95.4 Sreesanth to Amla, FOUR, a hat-trick of boundaries! Amla eases on to the front foot and drives another full ball through extra cover for four more, Amla takes of his helmet and celebrates his hundred, it’s been a flawless innings and an immensely valuable one 95.3 Sreesanth to Amla, FOUR, Amla moves on to 99 with an elegant drive off the back foot through cover, the length was just a bit short outside off, giving Amla the time to go back and punch it 95.2 Sreesanth to Amla, FOUR, over-pitched delivery outside off stump, Amla moves forward and drives firmly through the gap at cover to move on to 96
Ease, punch an drives firmly. Powerful stuff.
He’s an excitement machine. When Kallis is at the other end
Ishant Sharma is injured.. some finger injury it is. Maybe the apple caused it..Amla got a 100.. how sad is that.
